Well w/o any more background info or a vid w/sound link, uh, any responses are going to be wild-ass-guesses (WAGs) so...

Have you done brakes lately or any other work that may have something to do with it?

I had front brake rotors, pads and the left front control arm replaced in March 2012.
The work was not done by a Volvo dealer but by the independent tire shop where I buy my tires.

The noise starts at about 20mph and sounds like a chugging locomotive.
any suggestions are appreciated !
thanks!

Front End Noise

I'm having a similiar issue with my '89245.....and I have had ALOT of work done chasing this roaring noise that getslouder as I accelerate, and stays at that level until I decelerate. In the pastyear, I've had the following work done: BOTH U-JOINTS REPLACED; VALVE COVERGASKET/INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET; ENGINE MOUNTS; RIGHT AND LEFT LOWER BALL JOINTS;REPACK WHEEL BEARINGS; REPLACE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS; RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY;NEW TIRES AND FRONT END ALIGNMENT. Still, that infernal noise continues. Ido know that the tires replaced had abnormal wear patterns, indicating that itIS a front end issue. But, still, no one has been able to fix it. Any ideas?

As GDog stated, post a video somewhere and link it back here.

Issue solved ! It was the wheel bearing. Replaced front drivers side wheel bearing and the noise stopped.
