hello, i own a 1998 v70 turbo , my husband is changing my pcv valve, the bottom outlet is all gummed up with oil residue, its completely blocked, will that alleviate the oil pressure build up that is causing all the seals to leak?

Hi, It will help, but it may not stop leaking, the damage has already been done, being a turbo you need to change the oil out every 3-3.5k miles, poor maintanance will lead to varnish & gum building up in the motor, more so with a turbo charged engine. i would not drive the car till its fixed.

Once he is all done cleaning everything and changing the PCV system I would see how bad the leaks are then. Like said above it might still leak but shouldn't leak as bad when done.

so my husband disembled the pieces and found one of the valves that has two hoses atttached to it and electrical connecter attachted to it was completley plugged with oil redisdue. and he is now putting it back together.

so my husband was able to finish up the job today, car ran great, no oil spills as of yet. however the undercarriage is full of oil, can this be cleaned? or should this mean something else?

ok. so i took the car down to a car wash and had a nice cleaning and had the undercarriage done as well. when i returned i placed a few newspapers under the car to check for oil etc. atfirst it was bluish in color but thats the cleaning from the car wash, i had only gone down to the car wash and back home, about a 10-15minute trip. so i went inside for awhile then just went back out to check on the newspaper color and saw a few spots of oil. what the hell could it be now, any suggestions? thanks in advance.

The turbo return line o-ring might be bad.

ok, so i drove around town, testing out the car, seems like the oil spills not half as bad as before. however returning home only being gone for no more than like 30 minutes or so, my car was smoking. it was comming from the engine as did before changing eveything. my husband said it was because the oil was on the manifold, spelling probably wrong. sorry. anyways any reason now this might be happening? thanks again in advance

It takes a while to burn oil off of the exhaust.

ok. thats what my husband may have thought too. you seemed to know alot about these cars, he even said the same thing, especially when you mentioned the o ring, he said the same thing. lol. thanks, will have to change a few more things and just hope it stops smoking. it wasnt bad, enough tho. i really do love this car, we have a toddler and a baby on the way, and theres so much room in their. i owned a 93 sedan i think it was a 940, anyways that old car needed so much work, and this one is in great condition inside and out. thanks again. my husband owns a porshe that hes been doing some work too. both cars we own are great. but hes not as familiar with the volvo, but learning. thanks again.

so I've been driving the car for a few days now, doesnt seem to be leaking any oil. (crossing fingers). we are watching the car pretty carefully. havent seen much smoke since the peice was changed. like i think tech was saying, may have to burn off some excess. thanks for all your imput!

Sound like the hubby is good one to keep around. If he is giving you the same answers as tech, he must know something. What model Porsche do you have? I had a 1980 911SC for a while. It was just too expensive to keep. Especially after I lost my job a couple times.

yeah, the husbands pretty good wish foreign cars, hes in the business. he owns a 1986 911 carrera. its his baby! his first 911 was a 1979. its in mint condition. take care,

ok. now that the cars seems to be doing better. the check engine light that has always always been on, mysteriusly has shut it self off. is this a concern?

The code might still be stored in the Computer try to have it pulled and cleared and see if it comes back.
