Default Please Help!! Getting water in top of Windows....

I have a 1999 V70 GLT Wagon, and when it rains, a couple of things related to rain water are happening. I have owned all sorts of cars over the last 30 years, and have NEVER had this problem. Please feel free to give your comments, ideas, suggestions, or opinions. When it rains (and I am not talking hard, and straight on), even if I crack the windows 1/4" or 1/2 ", the water comes straight down into the inside of the door (and the electric controls are there, not good!). When I open the door to get in, or get out, a steady stream of water comes straight to the inside of the car. It seem to me that the water would or should be channeled somewhat away?? But that does not seem to be the case here. Am I missing something here. I did notice that there is a 1/4" threaded hole on the top inside ledge of the door opening. Does anyone know what this is for? Thanks, TrouperL

Hi and welcome to the forum.

No, Volvo didn't do a good job of stopping water from running into the car when it's wet or raining. The hole is for roof rails to be installed. It gets a little worse if you have roof racks on.

rspi, yes, I do have roof racks on the wagon. I hope there is a fix for this, would hate to have to live with every time it rains, I get soaked.

Three fixes:
1. Move to Southern California.
2. Sell car.
3. Make your own rain wall along the roof edge.

Believe it or not, the 850's are worse.

VTB,

Haha. I do like Cali, but not enough to move there. I like the change of seasons in the East (PA). It is a wonderful car, but a terrible design. Surprised Volvo never corrected it. I know I am not the only one that has ever complained.
