Power steering gone?
 

Driving home tonight, the power steering seemed to go. I got an electrical power system failure notice and the back of the car is coated with fluid. Is this the pump or a major leak? It is a 2001 V70 with 140k. I just had the power brake booster replaced and an attempt at the a/c without replacing - although the a/c shim did not work. Many thanks

A hose or the pump might have just let go. Also possible rack. But since you had the electrical system message I would say maybe pump of the hose close to it. If the fluid got on the belt it will slip.
