Rear seat headrest removal??? (car seat issues)

Is there any way to remove the center headrest in the back seat of a 1998 v70 wagon (without breaking it)? I ask this because my child's car seat is in conflictwith the head restwith it up or down, it's inthe way, but, if I could just take it off it would be so much easier and better seated.

Anyone? It seems like there is not an easy way to remove this, right?

Sounds like you are putting in the baby car seat front facing in the middle. I had mine rear facing in the middle so it didn't get in the way. Now he's older and in a toddler car seat on rear passenger side facing forward.

Yeah, front facing in the middle. He's about 2 1/2 years old, and beyond the rear facing stage, but putting him in the middle makes me feel I have him in the safest place in the car (and my wife just won't have it any other way either). I just wish there was an easy way to pop out the headrest, it still works how I have it set up, but the car seat doesn't sit flat against the back of the seat like I'd like it to be. Oh well, at least it works, I guess aside from a hacksaw, there is no easy way to remove the headrest.

I believe you have to take the seat apart to remove it.

I have a '00 volvo v 70 wagon and I had the same issue with the car seat - I took off the plastic piece around the post on one side and there is a metal pin (u-shaped) that I just removed with a pliers and then the headrest came right out. Took more time to ask all the mechanics that had no idea what to do.
