Recommendations for gearbox supplier

Hi,
my V70 T5 has an ongoing gearbox problem (2yrs) approx where it was 'hunting' in 4-5-4. Recently it also started to 'bump' into gear after de-accelerating/coasting before re-accelerating. There is no noise from the box. Now in last 3 months warning light "Transmission Service Required" has come on. dealer checked but found no codes stored the first time so reset it. they suggested I took it to a local gearbox specialist who they use to have it more fully checked out.
They reckon that the problem is the torque convertor lock up plate that's gone and a full recon of the box will be needed. They quoted approx £2,500 plus VAT to do this. As the car is a 53 plate with 200,000 miles I'm not sure it's cost effective, despite the fact that the car is in exc condition otherwise.
Just yesterday light came on again. Switched engine off to take it out of 'limp home' mode and restarted, engine now runs fine, driving OK, but warning light is still illuminated.
I reckon this will only get worse and have to decide what to do about it. Can anyone suggest anything that might not have been done so far - software download by dealer done, they suggested I DONT have the tranny fluid replaced as in their opinion this can cause problems. In any event fluid didn't look too bad according to specialists. they checked no leaks of coolant into system - all OK.
If this is the end of my box, then any recommendations for a supplier of replacement gearboxes would be appreciated or someone who could be trusted to do a recon on my own box. Obviously price will depend on what route I go down at the end of the day.
Thanks for any advice.
