Default Single-Din dash kit options for 2002 V70

I am planning to replace the stock HU-603 head unit in my V70 with a Alpine IDA-X305 in the near future. The Alpine is a single-din unit, so I will need some kind of dash kit/mounting kit to cover the gaps left by replacing the current double-din unit. Crutchfield sells a kit made by Metra (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1209992...t.html?tp=3121) but I am not happy with the look of said kit and read negative reviews of it. I called my local Volvo dealership and spoke to someone in the parts department, but he was not very helpful over the phone. I have heard that Volvo makes a dash kit that would serve the same purpose as the Metra. Does anyone have any information about anything like that?

All single-din kits look like crap. Why not get something like this?:

Crutchfield has it for $349 right now, which is a killer deal.

Double din will look 100x better in there.

The unit I stated above has been well reviewed and does everything I want in a head unit. While the Clarion looks nice, I have not found any reviews for in online, and am not really comfortable with purchasing a head unit, especially one with a touch screen, without any reviews. So, while I appreciate the help, I arrived at the Alpine after eliminating almost all double-din units from my search because of functionality, appearance or price. I'm pretty set on the Alpine right now.

All the single din kits look the same, so I guess you'll have to get used to it

I'm not sure what the dash looks like in an 02(new Volvo owner here) but if it is the same as a 98 you don't need a kit. You can use a Metra pocket and install a single DIN HU in your V70.

I was going to install my Kenwood DDX514 in the V70 but my wife went off on me when I told her I was going to take it out of my... her Vibe now. I used the Metra pocket and installed my old Premier 690UB yesterday and it does not look half bad.

The new model HU's are coming out soon(a few are already out) and there will be a whole new crop of double DIN units to choose from. Just a side note for you- can't go wrong with a Kenwood or a Premier HU.

The kit listed is the Metra universal pocket.

Here is a shot of mine. I know it's not an `02 but you can see what it looks like.
