Anybody in the Ann Arbor MI area have a tool to reset the SRS light. A regular OBD code reader will not do it. Just need to buy a few minutes of your time. Thanks in advance

I had this problem on my 2003 V70 T5. There is no way to reset it and you have to replace the whole instrument cluster, say the people at the dealers. That is over $1k. My dealer quoted $1,300. You could buy a used one on ebay for $50 bucks but that would have a different mileage and unknown issues related to compatibility by year. The last option, which I am taking, is to sent your cluster to Xemodex. They have a web site and they fix, change the chip etc. The chips are all faulty and once this light goes, more will come. It is about $400. Still a big cost but much better than the new cluster. I just didn't want false mileage because mine is relatively low mileage.

 

You should go to the stealer to see if there is a problem with the car's SRS. You may have a bad part.

 

Several years ago I had something in the dash fixed under warranty. The dealer had to remove the dash to fix the issue. Along with cracking the cluster mount and stripping a few screws they broke the passenger airbag cable. It worked fine but it was hanging by the thin little wires because the housing was broke. My wife finally got tired of the rattling from the cluster so I tore out the dash and fixed everything. The wire pulled out of the pin on the airbag and the light came on. I replaced the cable and the light now goes off but pops on after the check whereas before when the fault (no cable) was present it never went out. I will buy the reset tool for $60 bucks before I go to Sesi. Thanks for the input
