Start problems

Here is my issue. I have a '98 V70 wagon with non-turbo auto tranny. I had an issue about a month ago where the starter wouldn't start the engine. Mechanic found the central lock fuse blown, started up after. Not sure if it was due to door lock buttons being pushed or not. Last night, same thing happen except central lock fuse was not blown. This car has a brand new battery and starter, lights light up when key is turned and shut off when turning key to start position, tried wiggling key and putting shifter in neutral and nothing different. So I took all fuses, fusable links and relays out in both fuse boxes to check, nothing burnt or out of the ordinary. Got in car and started fine. Has anyone had any similar problem? Its annoying and want to find the problem. If it happens again, I am going to try taking each fuse out and try to start it to pinpoint the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to trouble shoot the problem, not the blitz approach.

First of all, when you try to start the car does it crank or is it dead? If it cranks you need spark and good fuel pressure to start. The most common intermittant problem is fuel pressure problems, caused by a bad fuel pump relay.

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't crank at all. Turn the key to the start position and the lights go out but starter does nothing.

Common problems are:
1. PNP switch.
2. Battery connections.
3. Starter.

Hope you get it worked out.
