Starter grinding
 

Greetings

I have 2002 Volvo V70 and the starter is grinding.Turno 2.4 model with an auto

Previous guy said it went out and he replaced the starter with an autozone unit

Checked part number and its the right one. Had some weird voltage stuff going on so I out a fresh battery in and connected another to the jumper posts up front to confirm it wasnt a voltage drop issue.

About to pull the start back out.

Another weird thing, the cooling fan is staying on


Any ideas?

search for other threads on the cooling fan - could be a sticky relay, a temp sending unit or the fan motor itself. Does your temp guage act weird - ie immediately shows some engine temp on a cold start? Does the fan run on after shut off but eventually shuts of?
