Default Tailgate Problem

98 V70R.
The tailgate panel is pulled away from the tailgate. OK, I have the repair kit. I went to remove the handle plastic trim piece. I wasn't the first one. The thing is in 6 pieces now. Can this piece be ordered from Volvo? Anybody know a part number? What a crappy design this is.
Thanks.

Yes you can order it form Volvo but have them look it up.
They will have to order it by the Interior color code on the car.

Thanks Tech. I will get the code and go visit my local dealer. Need them to flash my ECU anyway. Good way to start finding out if they care much for their customers.

Not that I don't like my dealer, they actually pulled my car info and recall records for nothing, but I'm curious if there's a Volvo Dealer on line that will process part orders w/part numbers from the great unwashed public. I have the Vadis program, which is pretty much great for ordering by part number. I've also got all my color codes, interiot codes etc etc. Although I'm trying not to nickle/dime the restoration of this car, I've got to watch my ps'-n-q's regarding the money I'm pumping into it. I still need to repair all the brakes stuff in back as well as the P0410 problem. Brakes are not bad, P0410 is damn expensive.

Please post how much that handle is. I've got to do my cover also and I'm sure I'll break that handle too. Already tried once and it wouldn't budge. Anyone have any hints?

After having broken mine, I think a very firm jerk/pull downward from the top of the frame would work best. I had a nice wide paint scraper to try and pry it out, but that didn't work at all. I'd be surprised if the part costs more than 10 bucks anyway. I'll see if I can get them to quote me a price.
