Default V70 rear spoiler

I would like some opinions on this spoiler I had installed. Please, anyone, offer your thoughts and I will give the full story of how this happened. Thanks, jmc[IMG][/IMG]

See there in the second picture, the notch. I thought that notch should be at the window trim, and the larger rounded area behind that should be flush on the glass. With that said, the spoiler would be more or less flat. Now it is slightly kicked up, and there is a gap at both notches, where the spoiler is not totally meeting the glass and the body. The body shop said to do any better they would have to take off the hatch. I was willing to pay for whatever it took, they said they thought it was wrong, BUT, put it on anyway. It came from DAR in Texas by way of Volvo of Richardson Texas. I have not recieved any reply from those guys as to whether this is right. Everyone but me seems to be satisfied with the outcome here. I guess I could learn to like it more, I am unsure if I would damage it pulling it off, or if there would be a problem sealing the holes already drilled it the roof

It might be a 850 Spoiler.

Do you have the Factory Part #?

I called them twice in Texas (I am in NC), and they said it was in fact for the 2000 V70. I keep leaving my invoice at home, I'll get you their part number at least. It has a brake light in it, which I think is very cool. Here is a picture from the back, for a better view. Hmmmm.....

Once you get the part # I will try to match it and see if it is a Volvo Part # and make sure it is for a 2000 V70 and not a 2001.

The part number on my invoice from Volvo of Richardson(TX) is 00V70/426. I called them twice before doing anything. Curious to know what you might be able to find out. DAR will not call me back, and this spoiler cost me $298.00, ouch!

It only looks bad when you are looking very close and down at it like your one picture. Other than that it looks great. I bet you can get used to it. Trust me nobody else will notice unless you bring it up. I have to admit it would bother me too though. It almost looks like it could just slide back a little bit and it would fit right into the shape of the car. It's like it's too far forward. $298 is a real good price though.

I'm sure it's the right one. If you body shop actually told you they thought it was wrong but put it on anyway they are idiots. Sounds like they're not too particular with their work and either measured wrong or something and drilled the holes in the wrong place and are telling you they couldnt do any better because they're too lazy to fix it.

Thanks guys.
I think I can slowly learn to deal it with rather than risk any damage, I suppose. I am more upset that this "professional" body shop did this to me. I would much rather them not install it due to them being unsure, than install it incorrectly. DOH!
It should absolutely be moved back a bit, and it WILL fit perfectly with the shape of the car. Woa is me.
You are right in that no one will notice untill I bring it up, but I think the flat and straight out look is much more complimentery of the V70.
I will be having words with the body shop. Such is life

Definitely complain, they messed up, who actually tells a customer they thought the part was wrong but installed it anyway, that's unbelievable. I think it shouldn't be too hard to remedy, it only needs to be moved back a tiny bit, even if they drilled holes someone else (don't let them work on your car anymore) could adjust it correctly. Or you could leave it, depends on how much it will bother you.

Roger that AaronD81. Did I see a post of yours of a dealer spoiler at $198 or something? Did it have a brake light in it?

Haha that's why I edited it, I saw your post before you added the last picture that showed the brake light, no that price was without light, you did get a good deal.

The Part #'s would look like this.
9184639 2000 V70 with Brake Light
9481248 2001 V70 with Brake Light

What they put on there is no part #.

Well I feel a little better now. I went and spoke with the fellow I originally spoke to at the body shop and expressed my dissatisfaction. We both gave our version of events and he said not to worry, that they will make it right. I did pay them good money, so to avoid paying someone else or doing it myself(which I should have done to start with), I'll give them a chance. He was very nice about it and I am much calmer now. I will put it in the shop at the end of next week, after I get my 90,000 mile service done. Be expecting a picture of the revised spoiler installation. Thanks for all the input. JMC
