Fuel filler door locked - 2001 Volvo V70
I hope someone can help me. I've got a 2001 Volvo V70, and I can't unlock the fuel filler door.
We've recently had some brutally cold weather, and I've encountered several quirky electronic problems--and I think they happened at the same time.
I can live with everything except not being able to open the fuel filler door.
The fuses are okay. I can't find the motor for the fuel filler door, and I don't think there's a manual release.
I'd appreciate any straightforward suggestions.
Thanks!

- I can't lock/unlock the rear locks.
- The fuel gauge always reads empty.
- The rear windshield wipers don't work.
- I can't open the fuel filler door.

I had the exact same problem. I took the inside door panel off on the right side of the rear compartment and manually pulled back the plunger to open the fuel door.
The fix that worked for me was to remove the fuse in the 1st position in the rear fuse compartment (allow for 15 to 30 seconds) and replace. It seemed to "reset" the system and everything again was in working order.

Fuel door locked - be patient
I was at petrol station to fill up when myy fuel door wouldn't open. Luckily had enough to get home. I had internal panels off, relays out and about to prepare for drastic action. I couldn't figure problem. I read some posts here and decided to leave it for about 20 minutes, locked and unlocked the using fob and hey presto fuel door opened.

As a back-up measure I attached a wire to the plunger and run it backwards. If the fuel door locks again, a gentle pull on the wire opens the door.
