What do the experts think of this car?
Hello Forum,
I'm new to Volvos and I'm considering this car. Please let me know what you think and any insight is welcome. Here is the ad from craigslist:
I have a nice 98 v70 awd lpt 5cyl. The car runs and drives very well 179k miles with recent timing belt and rebuilt head. Everything works as it should, AC, heated power seats, nice stereo system with sub and amp, tinted windows, lowered on bilsteins and ibach springs, Miro 18" LM reps with newer tires, 6k HID's, custom ipd grill.
Overall this is a very nice car and is a pleasure to drive, the only thing wrong with the car is the rear bumper was lightly hit which made the paint flake off. I love this car but am ready for something different.
Clean title with 2014 tags.
Asking $4500 firm
Thank you.

You posted in "New Member". That's for new members to introduce themselves and their cars.
Your title is unclear and when I popped it open and glanced at it I saw "asking 4,500" and started to move it to classifieds. I'm guessing someone else (88 views) didn't bother to read the whole thing and upon glancing at it just moved on as they weren't in the market for a car.
I moved your post to the V70 area so other V70 owners might see it and this way you have a better chance of getting some feedback. But you have to meet us half way. Be more accurate in your title of what you're looking for or what problem you're having.
I don't know why they split up the 70 series into 4 sub topics but if I was really interested I might post the question (with a more descriptive topic) in the S or C70 sections.
IMHO If you posted "Is this car worth 4,500" I bet you'd have more action on your post. It would also prepare someone to be looking at a car for sale instead of just thinking someone wants an opinion on something and instead you're greeted with an ad.
To answer your question, the thing I'd be concerned about is the new timing belt and reworked head. Sounds like the belt broke and took out some valves. I'd want to take it for an extended test drive of at least 30 minutes on a hot day with the AC on and make sure the temp gauge stays steady and doesn't start climbing.
As for the $4,500 it has some nice additions to it so it's more personal depending on if they are things you would add or like. My dad could care less if it had $1,500 dollars in custom rims where they would be something that could make me pay more. Have you been looking at them on ebay and craigslist ?? Did you check on the private seller blue book value ?? Have you checked on different Volvo sites classifieds to see what's available ??
