Default What Year V70 to Get?

Early next month I'm going to be buying my first Volvo, a V70, and was just hoping ya'll could help steer my in the right direction as to what year/s are a good or better choices. I want something between an 01 and 06, and to pay between $8 and $14 grand. When I do searches I tend to see alot of 01's and 04's for sale in this range but not much so with the other years. The 01's I can understand but the reason for so many 04's has me a bit perplexed. Also, when I do reliability searches these years seem to get the worst marks. Should I take these as warnings and avoid these years? I know nothing is a guarantee when you buy a used car, but I wanna have some confidence that I should be alright with the model and year I buy, especially considering I'm going on an 8000+mile road trip within weeks of gettin it. Thanks for your time and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know you said 01-08, but a 1998 model is a good year as well.

just make sure whatever one you get has had the transmission serviced at least every 30-40 thousand miles. that was an important factor when I got my V70

the motors are all great. there is the base/SE motor which is around 165hp, the first stage turbo version which is around 200 i think, and one with a larger turbo which is around 260. i think there may be one thats 140hp also on late 90s models. sorry i dont know the exact hp ratings. they are all nice and torquey feeling motors for a 2.3/2.4L.

im not sure if there is any particular thing to avoid but like most cars the first yearmodel of a bodystyle change is usually more prone to problems.

Please note that the rear hatch interior panels need new clips now and then, but otherwise, good cars any year.
