Which would you choose?
I really want to purchase a V70, but in order to find one in my price range it would need to be a 2001 or 2002 with low-ish miles, maybe 90k - 105k, or a 2003 with higher miles like 112k to 118k.
Right now I'm trying to be savvy and look for a well-maintained car, one owner, dealer serviced, that sort of thing. So, which would be a better bet, older with less or younger with more? TIA! |
RE: Which would you choose?
Well a 1998-2000 would be in your price range if not cheaper. Might have more miles, but I am sure you can find one with your mileage requirements.
Personally I would look for a 1998. |

I would stay away from any car 1998 - 2001! Start from 2002!!!!

ORIGINAL: rowingman I would stay away from any car 1998 - 2001! Start from 2002!!!! It's kinda crazy, but as I have been perusing Autotrader and other online listing sites, there are aTON of '01's (and many '03's) but very few '02's. Is this just a coincedence? Or is there something "special" about the '02's that make them highly sought after or make their owners hold onto to them longer? |

RE: Which would you choose?
Stay away from 99-01, but 98 is known as one of the best years every for Volvo. The 99 model year was the first where Ford owned the Volvo company. I have a 98 V70 GLT and have not had problems with it other than routine stuff like spring seats and the air pump. Nothing major at all. The GLT has the Low Pressure Turbo which makes it a quite a bit more peppy than than the base model. I would rather have the T5 though. My son has a 98 V70 R which has AWD and he hasn't had problems either. My daughter has a 99 S80 T6 and has had tons of problems.

RE: Which would you choose?
I agree 1998 was the best year for the V70.
If you really want one newer try for a 2003 or so. The bugs were worked out by 2003. |
