2011 xc60 Transmission???

I just bought a 2011 xc60 with 30,000 miles. I was reading the Carfax report and it looks as though the car went in 4 times for engine/powertrain computer/module reprogramming. Then it says at 19,000 miles the transmission was removed and repaired and the computer/module checked.
Just curious if these xc60's are prone to transmission problems??
Anything else I should be looking out for??

No, not at all. What's the VIN? I can check any warranty work and give a better idea as to what was done. The descriptions on those reports are sometimes generic.

That would be real mice if you could do that.
vin is YV4952DLOB2215441.
fyi...not sure if that o is an o or a zero

Here is what actually happened.
At 1689 miles, an ECM upgrade for a shudder/stutter felt on acceleration from a stop. Not likely to fix it, but since trans problems are rare on that car, Volvo may have requested the tech try that first.

At 6539 miles, the CEM software was updated to turn on the alarm chrip. The previous ECM update may have changed a setting in the CEM. Common at the time, nothing to worry about. The 7500 mile service was also performed.

At 10944 miles, another ECM update for the car not accelerating smoothly. My opinion? The tech didn't want to do a trans under warranty so he was hoping it would go elsewhere or come back when he wasn't working so someone else would have to do it. Crappy, I know.

At 13197 miles, another CEM reload for the alarm chirp. Again, likely because of the ECM update. The 15k service was done.

At 17626 miles, the trans was replaced per Volvo.

At 19733 miles, the 22,500 mile service was done.

Thank you so much for the information. I guess a new transmission can kind of be considered a good thing,

ES6T Feb 1, 2014 04:26 PM

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. Definitely not common. You are aware you have free maintenance with wear and tear, right?

incharleston Feb 1, 2014 05:44 PM

FREE...Please tell me more.
I have never owned a Volvo...Only Toyota and Lexus. I normally do ALL my own maintenance with the help of my neighbor who is a Subaru master mechanic :) but would love to have someone else do the work if it is free.
I sincerely appreciate your assistance and hope to return the favor by assisting other Volvo owners kind of like I did on the Lexus forums.
Any other advice or words of wisdom would also be greatly appreciated.

Did you not buy it from a Volvo dealership? How many miles are on it exactly?

incharleston Feb 1, 2014 11:27 PM

No...not from a Volvo dealership. The exact mileage is 27,310.

ES6T Feb 2, 2014 12:13 AM

Well it's your lucky day. Your car has free factory scheduled maintenance, including wear, for 5 years (6/25/2016) or 60,000 miles. That means your next 5 services (30k, 37,500, 45k, 52,500, and 60k) are free and brakes and wipers are also covered.

The reason I asked the mileage is because you need to do the services within a certain amount of miles of the service interval. You can always do them early, but if you were over 1,500 miles over the 30k, it would be too late.

Great...Thanks again for everything.
