2013 XC60 reversing while in drive uphill
With our old car getting old, we are looking at nearby dealerships to replace it. We like the XC60, and the test drive was incredible. The only thing we noticed was when we were going uphill, nothing too crazy maybe 30 degrees, when we were at a stop light and took our foot off the gas, we started to reverse some while still in drive. The automatic cars we have had before have not had this issue, so I wanted to see if this was something that this model has or if something was just wrong with this car at the dealership. I just wanted to check before we fork up a lot of cash!

when you say reversing, you mean the car can be in drive stopped on a hill and will roll backwards until you give it more gas? LOL, I used to live and SF and that was totally normal :-) That's just a sign that at the engine's idle speed the torque converter isn't spinning fast enough to grab enough to hold the car in place. Sounds pretty normal to me for a steep-ish hill. The onlyting I'd ask the dealer is whether they serviced the transmission recently, say via a drain fill or checked the fluid level / fluid quality. You didn't mention how many miles on the car or if the transmission shifted normally otherwise during the test drive. Normally the warning signs for the transmission are hard shifting or signs of slipping (newer transmissions will detect this and throw a fault code if the input speed doesn't compute to the output speed)
