Default AutoBrake activating without cause?

Our Early 2022 XC60 periodically slams on the brakes when in reverse when there is no obstruction behind us. It also has done so going forward (which I didn't even know was an option). This just started a month ago and has happened 4-5 times. It is dangerous and disconcerting. We are taking it in for service but wanted to know if anybody else has had this issue. If so, did you get it repaired and do you know what the techs did to fix it?

Thanks

I’ve been having the same problem but only when reversing out of my driveway onto the street (which is at a smaller lower level).
Wife and I have gotten use to it by now and proceed very slowly in order to prevent any neck injuries.
I’m sure it has something to do with sensors calibration and “smart” software design.
Good luck!

Thanks. Taking it tomorrow - of course, no loaner as they are stacked up with XC60s in for repair. I hate to be a naysayer but this could be the worst car we've owned and we've had many Volvos (including the 2019 XC60).

Default Mine too

It has happened twice going forward. I wish it did it when it auto accelerated and crashed backwards into my garage. No warning and never stopped. I have PTSD driving this car.

Hi,

I have had the same experience with my new XC60 Mild Hybrid. You have to learn your machine and let she learn your driving habits.
Mine doesn’t hits the brake until somebody or something is around the car and the car is very close to it. This vehicle can learn your driving habits, just give her some time.

Honestly first, I was unhappy with the new XC60 Mild Hybrid. But after seeing the active safety
features and how it cares about my and my family's safety, I fell in love with my new XC60.
Two times saved my family and me from an accident, and one time hugged me when he
predicted an accident would happen.

Our 2022 XC60 (software V1.8) slams on the brakes when backing out of the garage on occasion. Does not always do it, so it is probably related to how close we are to the door opening and/or how fast we are backing out. Yet when it does it, it scares the hell out of you!

So we have learned to turn it off before backing out of the garage. I hope it will be "optimized" in later software updates.

Place car in reverse, tap center display, two option buttons will appear. Select the one to disable the autobrake in reverse.

It will revert to enabled the next time the car is started.

Did you ever find out what the cause was? Was it fixed? Seeing the same on 2022 XC60. Thanks!

There must be something restricting the rear sensors assuming you have the rear camera.
I have to switch the camera sensor off when reversing into my garage.
