Default opening doors to exit my 2017 xc60

Did a search and can't find anything about this. Is it normal when you go to exit your 2017 xc60 that you have to pull the handle to open the door twice? The first pull on the handle does nothing, the second pull opens the door. Never had a Volvo before and just wondered if this was some sort of safety thing or if I'm the only one having this issue. Thanks, Rick

My 2010 V50 is the same. I've wondered the same thing. The first pull unlocks the door. The second opens the door. Not sure why this is. My 2011 XC90 does not do this.

It is a safety philosophy to keep you from falling out of the car. Thus, the double pull.
