Default Brakes xc60

Anyone have issues with brakes not lasting. I have a 2019, got it in February of 2019 and was told I need brakes all around. I only have 31k miles on it.

My brakes on my 2017 XC60 lasted almost 70,000 miles. Then I replace all four pads and rotors.

really depends on your driving style and locale. Brakes will last 100K+ when you drive highway in the flat lands, but in hills/in town miles, brakes will wear out even at 25K miles. Also most dealers will quote you pad thickness when they inspect. Did they report a number and note whether the fronts and rears were wearing differently?

I just had my 2019 XC60 R Design in for scheduled maintenance and was told I needed new rear pad and rotors. The vehicle has 35000 kms (22000 miles) on it, and they are about 90% highway commuting. This makes no sense to me and am wondering if the dealership is trying to screw me. Could this be accurate???

Doesn’t sound right to me. My 2017 XC60 went just about 70,000 before I needed pads and I also replaced the rotors. Don’t even know for sure if I even needed rotors. I would bring it to another place and have them check it. Since 90% of your driving is highway, doesn’t sound like you could be tough on brakes. Definitely get a second option.

If you can take the wheels off, inspect the pads and rotors on your own to see if there's any gouges or deep grooves. Its possible dirt etc has scored the rotors and to repair you'd need new pads - even if there's "meat" on the pucks.

I took it in to a trusted mechanic and he concurred that I indeed did need new pads and rotors. I saved about $400 getting him to do the work rather than the dealership. I'm still really pissed that I needed it done in the first place.

I have a 2019 as well and have had front brakes replaced twice. Back brakes replaced once but at my last service they told me that the rear brakes needed to be changed again. I did do quite a bit of driving last about 40k but the brakes dont seem to last very long. The service person told me that volvo is working on new brake pads.
