Camera won't come on in reverse
I have a 2015.5 XC60, recently purchased, and the backup camera used to come on when I was in reverse. However, apparently I've done something to turn that functionality off, and I can't figure out what it is! Can anyone help with this?
Thanks, Jackie |
Check My Car menu to see if the option is turned off.

I looked at ALL the menus in the MY CAR section and didn't find anything on cameras. I went back to the internet to do some more checking and found where you need to have the camera ON in order to view the menu for the camera. Sure enough, this morning I put the car in reverse, no camera. Then manually turned the camera on and hit the menu button on the dash. Up pops up the camera menu, of which the first option on the list is to automatically turn on the camera when the car is put in reverse. My option was OFF.... it is now ON. Somehow when messing with the camera one day I must have hit the 'enter' button when the menu was displayed and turned the option off. Glad we finally figured this one out for me! Thought I'd be a little more specific in case anyone else searches for this problem.

Glad that worked for you. It's fairly easy, I have found, to accidently make changes in the menus.

Thanks for the instructions! We had the same issue with our 2015.5 S60 and this worked. I wish I had been able to find this in one of the manuals.

Back up camera won't come on when it hot outside.
I have a 2011 XC60 R design, when it is hot outside (over 80ish) the screen on the dash is just a blue screen. When it's cool out side it works properly. When stopped and shifting out of reverse the screen will sometime flash the image behind me.
Does anyone have any ideas??? Thanks ELK |
As to the camera not functioning at high temperature, it could be the camera lens. Which would mean the camera needs replacing.

Thank you
Thank you for this. Happened to us on same model and was driving me crazy.
IMO it is a design flow that the main "MY CAR" menu at rest does not offer some link to ALL menu options. |
Backup Camera will not automatically come on in reverse
The following fixed the problem on my 2015.5 XC60.
. Put the car in reverse - no backup image in camera. . Manually turn the camera on by pressing CAM (camera) button on center console. . Press MENU on the rotary TUNE dial located on the center console. . Up pops up the camera menu, of which the first option on the list is to automatically turn on the camera when the car is put in reverse. . Place a check in the option to automatically turn on the camera. . Press EXIT on the rotary TUNE dial to save your change. Fixed my car! |
Hallo,
I bought a reverse view camera for my xc60 2013 R design. It is just the license plate part with RCA wires and of coarse a feeding wire. Is there a instruction available without the abaalicadabra ?. I do have a reverse distance warning system. Thanks,Peter |
I have a 2011 XC60T6R. The reverse camera doesn't work 95% of the time when I put the gearshift into reverse. The camera button on the center consul doesn't switch the camera on either. It feels dangerous when I'm reversing. Taking the car to the dealership and telling them I don't want the car back until this problem is fixed. I've had it into the dealership many times before and they tell me it's working when they put it into reverse. It works when I take it away and then stops working when I get it home. Driving me crazy.

Back up camera stopped working
Thanks for posting. Had same problem, don’t have a Camera button in my 2016 S60 inscription. Had to accidentally stumble on the camera menu item. Put car in reverse and got the choice to appear. Checked the box and back in business. Volvo On Call couldn’t fix it, had no clue, and seemed to enjoy not fixing it. The manual doesn’t help. The dealer had no clue!

I had exactly the same problem on my 2011 XC60T6R. Eventually solved by replacing the rear park assist camera control unit. $662.51 plus tax. I knew enough about the car to locate the rear camera control switch but it did not work even when switched into reverse.
