Car Shuts Off

Hello,

My wife drives a 2011 Volvo XC60 T6. Her car has been saying low battery now for around 6 months and nothing really has come about it and the dealership didn't have anything to say about it, so we left it alone. A few days ago she was driving slowly in a parking lot and the car shut off and locked up, as if the anti-theft was activated. Someone was there to help and was able to get it started again somehow. We decided to watch it for the next few days.

Today she was driving on a major street and it shut off again, in the exact same manner. Her dad ended up jump starting it and it started immediately. They brought it to an auto-parts store and they check the battery, alternator, and starter and they were all fine. We check the battery again at home, and again it was fine. Then the car wouldn't start again in the driveway. Again, the jump start got it going.

Every occasion of this happening it does the exact same thing:
- Engine shuts off.
- Locks up.
- All electrical systems stop including hazards, lights, key-fob, trunk door.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if someone who is better at this kind of problem has any idea what is happening.

My XC60 is very sensitive to low battery. While it will start with a low battery warning, weird, erratic things will begin to happen as time goes by.

My mechanic has also informed me that sometimes there is an issue with the battery cable for the 2010-2017s. Don't know which cable just yet. But it would explain why I've had to buy two batteries is just 4 years.

Might have that checked as well?
