Fuel type 2018 xc60
 

I just bought a 2018 xc60 in excellent condition, like new and intend to keep it that way for as long as possible. What type of fuel is recommended? Should I go for premium, mid grade, or is regular unleaded preferred?

Check your owner's manual.

Fuel requirements are clearly stated in the owners manual "Volvo demands premium fuel (91 octane or higher) for all T5, T6 and T8 engines" plus the manual notes " Volvo endorses the use of "TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline" where available to help maintain engine performance and reliability" Generally speaking, when the manual "recommends" a premium gas, you can run regular. When the manual says "requires" or more emphatically says "demands" premium, its pretty self explanatory. Top tier gasoline is a reference to the name brand gas products ie Shell, Mobil, Exxon etc which have added detergents in their premium product while wholesaled premium gasoline may not.

I don't have the owners manual. I bought the car used. It wasn't provided when I bought the car. I figured the volvo forum would be a good place to seek helpful advice and info from people in the know.
