No temperature gauge on the dash?

There is no engine temperature gauge visible on the dashboard. How to see or monitor the engine temperature?

ES6T 10-06-2021 05:55 PM

You don't. The car willing tell you if you have a problem.

XC60T5 10-07-2021 06:56 AM

So the car also tells me if the engine is too cold (issue with warming up)?

ES6T 10-07-2021 07:46 AM

No. Unless it's extremely cold out, that isn't as crucial as old school people think. And if it is extremely cold out, you can tell when it's warmed up when you have good heat.

If you're one of the 6 people in the world who needlessly let the car sit and idle until full operating temperature is reached, you can probably get some sort of OBDII thing to connect to your phone to monitor temperature.

Considering that Volvo is a Swedish brand and they have some incredibly harsh winter conditions over there - it is mind boggling that there is not even an option (let alone it being default) to display any type of engine temperature (e.g., coolant, oil) anywhere in the dash or infotainment system. Not letting your engine warm up properly is a good way to cause catastrophic damage to your engine. The "you can tell [your engine] is warmed up when you have good heat" method is archaic and pathetic - especially for a luxury, European, automotive brand. Do better, Volvo.

Between the lack of instrumentation and the unreliable key fobs, our XC60 has been a real disappointment.
