Power issue
 

I just purchased a 2014 XC60. I noticed that my car loses power a lot. I’ve checked the battery terminals and they were loose so I tightened them but still losing power. Sometimes it happens when I hit the lock button on the fob and sometimes when I’m just sitting in the car at work in park it will just shut down. No lights no nothing. I have a jumper box and it will start up right away. It’s even completely died and when I came back an hour later it had power again. I purchased as is so of course the dealership is no help. I’ve only had it a week and it’s been doing this since the day after I got it. I also replaced the batteries in the key fob. I got the items to bypass the xm radio system that I saw online I just haven’t tried it yet. I’m at a loss 😩 any experience this issue? Check engine light came on for the catalytic converter but nothing else. Help 😩😩😩

There is a resettable fuse/ circuit breaker on the main positive cable between the battery terminal and the thick cable that is a commonish failure point. Check to see if it is hot immediately after a shutdown. If you have a volt meter handy when it fails you should see a voltage difference between the battery terminal and the cable side of the "fuse". If you have this problem you need a new positive battery cable.
