Should I trade in Lincoln for XC60?
 
Hello! New here and wanted to get owner feedback on XC60. I have a ‘23 Lincoln Corsair and it is junk. 22k miles and I have squeaks and rattles all over cabin. Drove a Volvo on vacation so I am thinking of dumping Lincoln and consider the XC60 (or XC90). Are you happy with your XC60? Any advice for someone who’s never owned a Volvo? What is important to me is (in no particular order): driving comfort on rough roads, high quality fit and finish, and overall reliability. Thanks for any feedback!

I have owned Volvos since 1977 (242, drove it over 262,000 miles) and currently have an XC60 and an XC90. I've owned S80s and smaller Volvos as well. I have also owned BMW, Porsche, Honda & Isuzu, FORD. I have stayed with the Volvos for their economical use over the miles driven, comfort, quality, and features. What a car feels like driving on rough roads is a personal feel I think. I can tell you that if you keep a Volvo properly aligned, and in good repair they will (at least for me) be quite good for rough roads, weather (rain, snow & high heat) and high speed highway travel. I like the acceleration of the XC60 for city driving over the XC90 but often choose the XC90 for longer trips, the weight and size seem to be more comfortable. I completely rebuilt the suspension on the XC90 to give me a more desirable ride and cornering feel. But I like a certain sportly driving experience even at my 77 years of age. I generally drive fast and hard. Look at the IPD (Meyle HD) products. I had their anti-sway products back in the day. And use TRQ, MIELE aftermarket parts when I can find them for the projects, I've done, they are heavier than the Volvo OEM parts.To wrap up I have had Volvos for many years and many miles.

Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed reply! I think how you describe the XC90 is what I am looking for. Something with a longer wheelbase and more heft. The Lincoln Corsair I currently have (I do like the design language inside and out) is generally smooth and relatively quiet when the pavement is perfect, but as soon as the road quality degrades (which is often here in Ohio) the ride quality does too. Too many vibrations make their way past the suspension and into the cabin. And that exacerbates the fit and finish problems. And when we hit large cracks/seams in roads at highway speeds, it’s downright jarring. You are right, ride quality is a personal feeling and difficult to quantify (unlike cabin noise which can be precisely measured). I drove an XC90 last year, as our hotel had a Volvo fleet and we drove it to dinner—super nice ride. I definitely don't need a 3 row SUV but I can always put third row down and use as extra cargo space. Did you rebuild the suspension on XC90 because it wasn’t absorbent enough? Do you know if the latest years of XC90 have gotten softer suspension wise or tighter/sportier?
