What wheel fits?
Hi All, I am new here and hoping for a bit advice, the wife has traded her 2010 c30 in for a 2016 xc60, the xc60 comes with a can of gunk instead of a space saver.
Can anyone tell me if her inch c30 spare will fit the xc60 to use as an emergency just to get to a garage for repair or replacement, if so i might be cheeky and keep the c30 spare before trade in time.
or will i be better biting the bullet and purchasing the genuine xc60 spacesaver?
many thanks,

fast answer is, No.
While the C30s spare will bolt right up (same bolt pattern and center bore), the tire sizes are very different. Your XC60 tires have a diameter in the 29" range where the tires on a C30 are about 25". that would mean the spare will be spinning 16% faster than the other tires - enough to ruin a differential if placed on the front, and enough to make the car's handling and braking dangerous. You could try find a used space saver (check out car-part.com for recycle yards) for one that is the proper size.
check out wheel-size.com to see what size wheel's tires are appropriate to both models - not sure but they may even list the space saver size. Sites like Tirerack also give details on tire diameters and how to convert between rim sizes

its not really about the rim size, its about the circumference of the tire. The tires show three numbers - tread width in mm ie 245, the aspect ratio (ratio of the tread width to sidewall height) ie 65 and then the rim size. For your XC, say you have an 18 inch rim - the tires are likely to be 235-60-18. Those tires will have the same circumference of a 235-65-17, with the different being the sidewall height. So you could find a compact spare it would be something like a 125-80-17 or a 125-90-16 etc. way skinnier, but with way taller sidewalls to get close to the original tire's circumference.
