02 - xc70 Tailgate issue
 

Hey all,

Recently my tailgate has stopped working. It is intermittent, sometimes it works fine, but more and more often it has stopped working. I have tried my backup keyfob, which didn't work.

Anyone have anything similar happen? Or know how to remedy this situation?

It does not open at all or with the fob it will not work intermittent?

Sometimes it won't unlock. It is sort of strange, sometimes it works fine, I'll load it up to go camping and when I get to my destination it might or might not work. When I unlock it via the fob or the actual button on the driver side panel, I can hear it clicking like its trying to unlock, but when I go to open it it sort of seems that the handle doesn't catch.

Not sure if this is an issue with the tailgate, or an electrical issue.

I guess the next question I have is; how hard is it to get the interior paneling of the tailgate off? I want to get in there and see if I can see the tail gate locking mechanism. When I hit the unlock button on the fob or the door it seems that its trying to unlock the tailgate but is failing.

Any diagrams or assistance here?
