2004 xc70 mass airflow sensor problem

I have a problem with my cross country. This started when the car hit about 70,000 miles. We have had ti replace the mass air flow sensor 6 times now in the past year and a half. The problem is getting more frequent lately. We just had it replaced last month and it has already busted . We know when it is busted b/c out of the blue- the check engine light comes on, and the car start jutting forward upon turning the ignition, the engine will continue jutting forward (as the rpm's go up) , until I hit a higher speed (say 30mph) . My husband and I do not know why this is going on,as we are not mechanically inclined. We definitely get the runaround at our mechanics. We started at volvo, the first time -then switched to an independent mech- now we are stuck with the independent mechanic b/c the sensor is under warranty. Now, I don't know if he will cover it again the 4th time in a matter of months. What I am wondering,is there something wrong with the transmission , that keeps blowing out the Mass air flow sensor? No one can seem to tell us the answer to this (not even volvo) . We are so bummed , as we feel we got a major lemon. The minute the warranty ran out, all of this has happened. We want to sell the car, but not until we get this problem fixed. to ad to this, the alarm system is busted (constantly going off ), and the gears into W and D alternately w/o touching them. All of the sudden the car just starts driving slow, and I look at the dash, and it is in W. If there is anyone out there who happens to have any ideas of what could be wrong -please respond. We need all the help we can get. Thanks
