2006 Volvo xc70 hose identification

Hello all,

Just noticed this gap on this hose. Can anyone tell me what it is and what having this gap has done to my car?? It is a 2006 xc70

It's the upper crankcase ventilation breather hose. Leaving it broken will cause unfiltered air to be drawn into the engine and will probably set fault codes.
