2006 XC70 Low Beam Bulb Replacement

I just had a message on my 2006 XC70 that my Low Beam headlight bulb is out and needs to be replaced. I do not believe this is the HID-type bulb, but won't know until I can get it out...which is the problem, I can't get it out. The bulb that is out is located on the passenger side and I tried to get it out, but there is some computer box in the way. I don't want to move that if I don't have to. I did get the rubber cap off the back of the assembly, but couldn't feel anything in there that resembled a bulb. I tried to take the whole assembly out, but quit after finding it was a little more involved that I suspected.

Does anyone know of a video or detailed instructions on how to do this? I am mechanical and can handle most projects, but don't want to do this and break something. I'm over 100 miles from a Volvo dealership, so taking it there isn't really an option...nor do I want to pay their labor prices if I don't have to. My local repair/service shop could handle it if necessary, but I'm would rather do it on my own to save a few bucks.

Please let me know if you can help.

Thank you.

Same issue

I have the same problem with mine! It's so hard to get to! There must be an easy way to get to it, but I can't figure it out.

I took mine into the service shop yesterday, bought the lamp and asked if they could help me put it in. Only paid the $34 for the bulb. The trick seemed to be to detach the wiring harness in front of the rubber gasket in order to get a better grip on the bulb. The bulb screws out clockwise and screws in counterclockwise. Another trick is to have the bulb seated exactly right before attempting to turn it.
