99 V70XC window regulator change-out
 

One of our 99 V70XC's has a problem with the driver's side front window. The slider block on the front end of the window was broken, and I went to the dealer and purchased 2 more, thinking I would just change them both out. Here begins the problem....I purchased part #3509416 (the blue slider block, with the clip). When I began to remove the old ones, first of all they are green (not that I give a rip what color they are), and made somewhat different. It seems that the little round "ball" protrusion on the end of the regulator arm that would pop into the slider block can not go in deep enough so that the pin will slip onto it behind the "neck" of the "ball". (I realize these must have better names, please pardon my ignorance!).
Also, am thinking I will need to replace the entire regulator, as it appears that the arm going to the front of the window has bent somewhat out of shape, and seems to wobble a bit, which probably caused the problem to start with.

My questions are: Are there 2 different slider blocks available? If so, would anyone know the part number of the "green" ones? Secondly.....how big of a headache is it to change the regulator out? It doesn't appear to be all that bad.

Rather odd I have only seen green colored connectors for the window to regulator connections. Swapping the regulator is not that bad as long as you can move the window up and down with power from the car. This makes pulling one from a salvage yard very difficult. I would double check with the dealer to make sure you have the right part. eBay has plenty of the regulators since the S70, V70 XC70 etc all share the same doors.

Thanks for your input! I actually found the correct green connectors online and have now got them. I haven't tried installing them yet, and am hoping the regulator is OK with the new connectors, as it seems that the front one was broken, which allowed that particular "arm" to pop out. That "arm" seems to have a bit of a twist in it, and I am hoping that it just needs the support of the connector to work correctly. The window WILL go up and down by the switch, so hopefully the regulator is OK.

It's not easy to align the window in the door. There are some adjustments on the regulator that you can do when bolting to the door. If the regulator is bent it might not work correctly.
