Cruise Control
Purchased a 2002 XC70, and didn't check on the test drive whether the cruise worked...it doesn't:(! Yet another lesson to be learnt!!
I have followed the instructions in the handbook down to a tee. The word cruise appears in the appropriate place on the dash when the relevant button is pushed on the steering wheel, but when I go to set it by depressing the + or - button (again located on the steering wheel), nothing happens ie the vehicle doesnt not cruise at the speed set and speed will decrease when I take my foot of the accelerator. I had the manual out again with the intention of checking fuses, but cant seem to find a fuse for cruise control. Any suggestions please. Thanks in advance |
RE: Cruise Control
Is the check engine light on?
|
RE: Cruise Control
Yes it is.
The car was fully serviced prior to me buying it saw the receipt to prove this. I know what you are going to say...Whilst the engine service light is on it will not work. The mechanic who did the servicing is not at a Volvo garage and did not have access to the relevant piece of kit to turn the engine sevice light off...or is that BS? If there is a way I can turn it off please let me know, as I was going to take it to a Volvo dealership to get it turned off Thanks |
RE: Cruise Control
I have a 2003 xc70 and recently had my cruise control go out and the check engine light come on. It was the brake light switch going out that caused both.

Hi, I also have a 2002 V70XC with a cruise problem. Worked a treat when I bought the car but now [read as about month ago] decided not to work. Again when you operate the wheel mounted 'cruise' button, the 'cruise' word appears in the display, but will not set. No other warning lights are present [other than on start up when ALARM SERVICE REQUIRED lights up ?????]
I have read other links which relate to the older V70's and they mention about the vac line under the battery plate - my battery is under the boot floor so can't envision it being there! Haynes and the driver manual are a dead loss as mention nothing about faults. Oh learned readers, HELP please!! |
