Engine mounts xc70 3.2?

Hi, I have 3.2l XC70 2010 with 260km. It goes great, decent service history including trans fluid change about 30km ago.
When I start and drive off the morning (or after a long break), it makes a funny rattling type of sound for about 30 seconds.. Then it goes away and nice and quiet. The gears change well with no slack/slippage.
I don't believe it is the timing chains as there is no rattle sound when in park, just when I first drive off. Just wondering if worn out engine mounts can cause funny noises?

The mount on the front of the engine (right side of the car) will sag and create funny noises - worse when cold. It's under the "dogbone" which when worn can create all sort of noises also. I would not replace any other mounts unless the noises continue after replacement of those 2 parts. (if the front mount and or dogbone was bad to begin with)

Great, thanks for that. Ill will those 2 mounts. cheers

I was not suggesting simply replacing the mounts hoping that would solve your complaint. I was suggesting those mounts can create weird noises and if they are diagnosed to be sagging or torn, and creating your noise - should be replaced.

No I understand, I will replace give the km the car has done.
Are these the engine mounts you were referring to? is that the "dogbone" mount and the other below it?

Yes, but the rubber in your dogbone mount does not look torn. The rubber tears, (or the bushing on the other end moves) and the aluminum shifts to one side, rubbing metal to metal creating weird noises - yours looks ok (from this angle)

The lower mount has a flat mounting plate on the top and when the mount sags - the flat plate rubs against the top of the mount. Making funny noise - usually worse when cold or at a weird angle.
