Hood won't stay up
 

On my 2000 XC70 the hood wont stay all the way up. When I open it it slowly falls down of course I've hit my head already, LOL
Are there any struts that are hidden under the hinges near the firewall? I looked on FCP Groton's site and it appears that only XC 70's only have hood struts on 2001 later model XC70's? Any help would be appreciated thanks Bill

I thought these had the mechanism to make it stand 90°. But other than that, it looks to be a spring part # 9152716.

Thanks for the info Ill have to check when I go home I didnt realize there was a spring anywhere on the hood? As far as the 90* opening hood Ive seen mechanics do it I believe all Volvos have that feature you push the hinge down somehow and pull the hood up. I found the "Spring Back" part as its called in Volvo's Parts Book. Now I need to find out if there are two srings one for each hinge? Also how difficult is it to install them? are they acessable from under the hood or? thanks Bill

I have never installed them myself, but im sure you can do it under the hood. That 90° feature works on the ones without the shocks. If your not sure how to do it, take a pic. and lets look at it.
