Default How to get MAF Sensor off

I have a 2001 XC70 with 108k miles. Running poorly at high speeds. I'm going through a checklist of possible causes and am up to the MAF sensor. I have removed the 2 screws that connect it to the air filter housing and have disconnected the electrical connector. And I have loosened the band that secures the outflow end to the plastic pipe going to the engine. But I can't seem to get MAF Sensor out of that pipe. Before I get more physical with it, thought to ask for tips. It spins freely but won't pull out. Is there a lip on it that is holding it in place or do I just need to tug a little harder?

Regarding my problem, the cars runs fine at low speeds but when I get it on the highway it sputters softly at constant speed and load. I got some codes about the turbo sensors and MAF sensor. Have replaced spark plugs and fuel filter just because they needed it. Made no difference. Plan to clean and possible replace the MAF Sensor depending upon what I find when/if I can get it off.

Thanks for thoughts.

It is a stubborn SOB, pull hard. I found it easiest to leave it connected to the airbox, pull other end free, then disconnect from the airbox. Happy Volvoing
