Default mild fender bender

My wife was in a mild fender bender. Both cars were at a stop and the lady in a mini-van behind my wife must have let her foot off the brake or stepped on the accelerator. There was no real obvious damage on either vehicles, but my wife took pictures and they exchanged info. Looking closer, the impact was hard enough for the license plate screws to tear the bumper and for the numbers to be imprinted on the bumper. Anyway, she called the lady's insurance and went and got an estimate. The guy at the body shop was talking about possibly having to replace the 'absorbers' (in addition to the bumper cover), but he won't know until he has it apart. From this type of impact, do you think the 'absorbers' were compromised?

Curious...Would you have let this type of accident go? We've only had it (01XC70) a couple of months and the lady when psycho when my wife asked for the DL/Insurance info. With my '91 4Runner, I've let it go because there was more damage on the other car and I was able to fix mine with a 3lb hammer.

I haven't been home yet to check it out...is there anything I can check by looking under the bumper

Default RE: mild fender bender

There is no persay absorbers on this car.
There is an aluminum bracket that bolts to the body then there is foam between the aluminum and bumper cover and thats is.
