My XC70 shaked my trust... (6-month old post)

Hi, I'm new on forum and I want to share with you my issue about my 2004 XC70!
Just a day before going on vacation to Niagara Falls the front right spring coil broke and penetrated the tire through the inside. First I thought it was a flat... Imagine that at 100km/h on highway with my 3 kids and wife inside! Hard to think about it, right? The spot where the spring broke was rusted - close to the lower side. We were lucky, that happened in the garage when we were upstairs! I got the car in 2008 and it was regularly checked and maintained; and now I am a bit confused, what if I'll have another bad surprise cause I'm concerned about my familly's safety... Volvo Canada they said on the e-mail that I gave them the wrong phone numbers, and I had no other attempts from them to clarify this issue with me, like they don't bother with me... Of course, I'm out of warranty for the parts, but I guess they should be more careful when it's in stake the well praised Volvo safety. After 6 years from manufacture and 105.000 km it's quite bad, right? Please advise me you more experienced Volvo owners and professionals, Thank you! Please see attached pictures! |
Oh its in bad condition.Welcome to the site.I am too new here and its glad to meet you.i hope you get some information from the forum.

Hi, glad to meet you too! It`s already fixed! It was difficult to remove the car from the garage due to the low height of the ceiling and small space(no plartform could fit), but my mechanic figured out a way to rotate the spring coil and put on the spare...
I just wanted to know what else to check for the worse...any idea dear forum people? |
Welcome! Glads its fixed. How is the trans. and turbo on the Xc70, i heard they can be problamatic?

So far I'm ok with the trany! Never touched it and worked fine in the Montreal winters.
Turbo works as it should, of course with the known delay at this type, but it's strong and thirsty for gas. So far, never failed me...Goes like a rocket! |
