need to replace driver side electric mirror

My car is an 02 V70 XC. Side view mirrors are electronic with memory.

Wifey clipped the mirror, glass is not broken, but casing is. Electronic adjustment still works, but once you start driving it moves around. It only comes as one unit, and the dealer wants $380, plus $71 for the mirror, plus $115 labor. I did find an aftermarket replacement online, but I am not sure if it is to spec - they say it is. Here is the link:

The afterarket replacement is $156. Thinking of taking the chance and doing it myself. Are there any gotchas to the R&R of this part? I am fairly good with these things, just wondering if anyone has experience in it, or can give me a link to a how to page for this effort.

Thanks!

That doesn't look like the right one.
Call them and double check. There is a temp sensor in the mirror you need to make sure that one has one as well.

Can either of you tell me the orientation for the wires (2) that connect to the glass? I just bought a replacement for my '06 and I need to figure out which wire connects to the top and which to the bottom. One connector is a single wire with a white stripe the other is a double wire with no colored stripes. The wires come out of the main mirror housing and plug into the what I suspect is the heat element on the mirror. Thanks.

Going to answer my own question....white striped wire goes on top. If you are thinking about doing this yourself I say go for it. I went out to the garage after the previous post and removed the door panel. You have to remove the piece of trim on the top of the door panel in corner near where you would look out to the mirror. Second, remove a piece of trim on the interior handle ((2) torx fasteners within that handle. Lastly, pop out the "buttons" that hold the door panel on. I have heard them called clips on other posts. Other posts state that it is hard not to bust a couple of them....I can tell you that is true. Going to have to buy a few tomorrow at the dealer. On these buttons I found that you can take a very narrow screwdriver and press in the middle of the button to release. I think they are one time use fasteners but this releases the clip. Once you have released the clip you can pull the panel off. After that it was one bolt to remove the entire mirror, a multi-pin connector and put it all back together. 20-25 minutes and saved over $180 that the dealer wanted to do it. I wish I made $360 an hour. Email me if you have questions.
