New XC70 Issues

Hello all. I'm new to the forum here. I haven't found anything on my issues so here goes. About amonth ago I bought a 2008 XC70.I got an odd feeling when only 3 of the windows had the Auto Up feature. Then I noticed that I have to reset the computer pretty much everytime I get in the car or my display shows 40 mpg or 35 mph when I'm on the highway doing 80. Is this normal?

Well the kicker came last Friday. I was driving my wife to the airport for a family visit when the 'Low Oil Level' message came on. I stopped in the nearest town to find the nearest Volvo place. I had to put in a liter of oil to get to theVolvo service place. Well when they pulled the top cover off, there was oil all over the top of the engine. They couldn't find a leak or anything. They checked my oil level and told me to take it to the dealer nearest my house to get it checked out. So I get to take my new car, with less than 1200 miles on it, in for repair work.

Anyone heard of any of this stuff?

Thanks!

No, I haven't heard of any major issues on the 2008's, but I do know that most often the first year of a new model has issues that need to gt worked out. Please let us know how these get worked out for you

Quick silly question. Did you check the oil level before you added any? I rented a V70 (not XC) 2 to 3 weeks ago, 500 kilometers on the vehicle. Drove 100 kilometers and on the second day the warning indicator (yellow light) came on saying the oil level was low. After work when I started the vehicle the light was off but it soon came on again. THEN it changed to the red light saying the oil was low and check it NOW. So, I pulled into a garage to add some oil (friggen rental car) but figured I better check the dipstick first. Once I found it, it was FULL!

So, I called the rental agency and they said to just drive it the way it was.

My assessment was that there was a problem with the electronics "somewhere" that was reporting a low oil level when there wasn't one.

I have heard it before. Suggest to take it back to the Volvo dealer.. There is a few cases of new inline 6 engine have oil usage.. if no external leak. could be leak in pcv system.

RE: New XC70 Issues

I bought a new XC70 in Sept 2008 and its just approaching 18,000 mile service.

In that time the low oil light has come on every 3000 to 4000 miles and a full dip stick of oil has been added. My dealer has an issue with Volvo but so far no comment as to the normality of this oil consumption.

I also only acheive approx 31MPG, was told to expect 40MPG from the diesel??

Comments please
