Hi, I'm a new member. Just bought my first Volvo after years of wanting one. I've been reading some posts about the 03 XC90 and seen some negative things. Is there anything good about the 03 XC90? I'm loving the car but not feeling to great about the downsides I'm reading. I bought it in Jan of this year w 46k mi from a Volvo dealer and it came with the 100k warranty.

Most of the problems should have been corrected by now. Is it T5 or T6? T6 had GM -made transmission and it was not as durable as AW-made one on T5.
Youy got your warranty so enjoy the car (at least till 100K miles)!

 

Hello all, new member also - very much along the same lines as tmsc except I bought my XC90 from a buddy who, for the last 15 years, always gives me first dibs on his wife's car before he buys her a new one. The last one, a Land Rover, is still in the family and will be driven by my daughter when she gets her license later this year.

Last Friday I picked up the XC90 and although it's been in for service for an assortment of things - from a blown speaker to sqeaky suspension, there's no record of any transmission problemsand we're at about 43,500 miles right now. All in all my wife loves the vehicle.

I was wondering if it was worthwhile adding a tow hitch. The Rover was always handy for moving small loads or launching and retrieving the boat. I'm going to bring it in and have my mechanic take a look, change the oil and let me know what he thinks this afternoon.
