RE: 2004 xc90 engine shuts off
Sorry about the problem.
I would visit a local auto parts shop such as AutoZone and have it diagnosed via OBD-II. It seems like electronic engine control problem. If AutoZone is able to pull codes from the on-board computer, let usknow the codes so we can help you better. In case if the car acts up while in drive, hit the shifter into "N"; this can be done without pushing the button, just knock it into "N".

RE: 2004 xc90 engine shuts off
I just purchased a 2004 T6 XC90 AWD with 35k miles on it about 5 months ago.
The CD changer has died "DECK ERROR" will cost about 400.00 installed. Good chance this can happen again so I went to a local car audio shop and they will price up some options. A good chance I will purchase the IPOD option.
Also When getting the oilchanged at the dealer they did some recall work (PCV etc) when I left the dealer a couple of days later engine kep cutting off. Took back to the dealer and found our it was a loose air pipe, mechanics dod not put things back properly. The XC90 runs fine now.
