Default 2nd Generation XC90

The wife bought a brand new Ice White 2011 XC90 R-Design a couple of months ago.

We really like it! But because it's been around for so long, we are already wondering when the new body style will be coming out??

I know they've been pushing the XC90 redesign back a while now, but does anyone know when it's due to come out??

I really want to know when the new body style is coming out and what it is going to look like as of right now volvo has not said much. I have been following them on twitter http://twitter.com/VolvoCars_US and looking at their facebook Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More as of right now i think the earliest we will be seeing it is 2012. Also NIce Car choice and color (must be beautiful) enjoy it!

They had better offer a diesel option this time or they will lose customers. I am a diehard Volvo fan but I will not buy another one of their cars until they get better mileage. I've been driving a diesel XC90 this week here in Reykjavik, Iceland and it has been wonderful. I've averaged 35 mpg in town.

Hey Car&Watch,

I think we are sharing a brain. I purchase the same truck in May 2011. So far so good. We also had wondered about the redesign scenario but we purchased the car anyway.

What do you think about the truck so far?

How have you found the poswer in the X90, I was looking at them two months ago but decied not to bc i was concerned abt power. No V8 and no turbo in the 2011. Instead I went with a 2010 S80 V8 that they had left over and marked down to 37K. Of course with tax, title and wife adding things it ended up costing 47K. I love the XC90, probably the most comfortable suv/car I have sat in.

2010 S80 V8
2006 S80 Turbo AWD
1999 S80
1999 S70 Turbo AWD

I have to be honest. Don't think the V6 XC90 has enough torque during accelartion. Maybe I should have opted for the V8. However I might be alittle impartial as my last car was a BMW X5.

Hey Steve--

Congrats! We actually traded in a 2011 Lexus RX350 in the XC90 R-Design. My wife saw the truck and just fell in love with it! It's perfect for her. It is for sure underpowered, and the fuel economy is not as good as on the RX, but I like the fact that you don't see one around every corner... especially in the R-Design. In white, the car just has such a nice look. And for 2012, the R-Design has dropped the gray Volcanis rims, so I am glad we got the 2011 because I like those rims. We plan on doing an overseas delivery in a couple years when the new XC90 comes out.
How do you like yours so far?

So far so good. The car handles very well and looks great. You are getting alot of bang for your buck with this truckl. As you mentioned the power is not there. Maybe should have opted for a V8 engine. Overall the truck is great. Only have put 2K miles so I haven't really gotten a taste for it.

I just had a problem with all my dash board and radio going out. I don't know what's going on, because my car didn't cut off. My father touched a plug under my hood and it was hot, what to do and what is this plug called.

The V8 is no longer offered. It was not offered for 2011 and it doesn't look as if it will be offered for 2012.

The V8 was also dropped in the S80 for 2011 & will again not be offered in 2012. I'm guessing low sales of V8 models?? not sure...

Anyway, that means that there are no current produciton models of any Volvo with an eight banger engine.... kind of sad!
