Blower fan problems

The blower electric control dial looked like it was working, but yet not controlling fan speed, it would sporadically turn on or off at whatever speed it desired (not on ecc/auto mode).
Next it wouldn't cut off once ignition is turned off. (Killed battery)
Read multiple threads and figured it was the resistor, ordered on online cheap for $32.00. Installed it and it worked great..... For about 5 minutes
Now it only is at full speed all the time.
I have been pulling the fuse out to turn it off, but need to fix it...

My questions are could there be something else wrong, could the new resistor be a cheap piece of junk, should I order another one, ....

I have pulled the wire harness off of the resistor and blower motor assembly to check for power, when key is off, the red wire is hot all the time. Hopefully all these little bits of info help diagnose
