I'd check to see if the pistons and rings have been changed in the (recall) customer service replacement plan... They had a oil burning problem.
I was at the local dealer and asked if I could tow my 3000lb boat with the T5 or T6 with 200000+ km. He said it may be best to wait a couple more years to really see how there going to fair out. I bought a 2008 3.2 to get me by until there are more high mile motors out there.
Maybe two more years and I'll pick up a 2017 or 2018.

I would not buy. There was a recent post here about oil usage in a 4 cyl 2016. I just don't think that motor is big enough for that heavy SUV. I have a 2006 2.5t. I love the car but I have a lot of repairs. Rear wheel bearings at 156,000 miles. My mechanic said he had never done that on a Volvo. Now I think the shocks are going out. I have also replaced the radiator , evaporator, and inside fan motor. After 100,000 miles I have drained and flushed all fluids except tranny, which was drain and fill. I have always done more than required service. Paint and interior still look great. I want to keep it because it is safe and hauls stuff when I need it 17mpg is not great but better than a car payment unless Biden pushes gas above $3.00.

Keep the hands of the 2015 and 2016 gen2 XC90 .. made in China and at the same time Volvo introduced a new platform .. the chinese "monkey see monkey do" didn't go well before after 2016 .. matter of fact Volvo stopped exporting XC90 from China to USA 07/2020 and concidered at the time a production in the USA
