Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Issues...
Hi Guys,
2005 XC90 V8 (with 150k miles) threw 5 error codes. Ran my generic OBD2 scanner on it and retrieved the following: P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2) P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1) P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Output P0174 (again) P0171 (again) Before going down a rathole... could this be due to?: A) Faulty Fuel Pump B) Clogged Fuel Filter C) Something Worse. Start Praying to the Norse Gods of Gothenburg Any thoughts? Cheers, L76 |
Could be a bad fuel pressure sensor. I've seen it before.
Could be a fuel pump. Could be the PEM. |
Thx ES6T. I am pretty good with a wrench, but unfamiliar with this Yamaha V8. Replacing fuel pressure sensor a big job (e.g. tough placement/difficult to get at, etc.) or a quickie? I am hoping I do not have to replace the fuel injectors...

I would bet it isn't the injectors.
The sensor is on the end of the fuel rail, under the throttle body. It can be done without pulling the intake. Not too hard for a pro, but not the easiest job either. |
Thx. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow in the daylight. Betting on a bad sensor. Anything special I need to be aware of? I assume that the whole fuel system is under pressure, however... that I do not need to do anything special to re-pressurize the system before replacement, nor anything special to pressurize it after replacing the sensor. Right? Or is there some special procedure I need to follow?
Cheers, L76 |
Nope, nothing special about it
