Default HID Highbeams and Auto Headlights

I have the Bi-Xenon headlights and was just checking to see if this is a problem or a feature/bug? With the headlight switch set on O using the autolights they work fine. However when trying to turn on the high beams they won't stick on, its just as the "passing" setting while I am holding the lever back.

Now if I set the headlights on manually and do the same thing they will toggle on and off just fine like they should. This really defeats the purpose of auto headlights if you have to manually switch them on to use highbeams.

This is the way they work. There is no bug in them. I agree that they should work (be able to dim) in the auto position, but they don't. My Jeep Grand Cherokees both had auto lights, and you could use high beams in the auto position, but Volvo, for whatever reason has chosen to go a different route. Oh well, I still like my XC 90. Hope this addresses your concerns.
