I have always had the same coat hanger that goes attached to the head rests metal tubes, but in my XC90 2017, as they are head rests are wide, I havent found (google or my local volvo seller) a coat hanger that fits.
I have attached a stock image to show what I mean.
Time to get some aluminum wire of the type used to bundle the root ball of an evergreen in a nursery. Bend it to fit the headrest then make an appropriate eye in it.
Then hook on your regular hanger. Leave this custom adapter in the car.
Or you can somehow marry it to a coat hanger that suits your suit if you need to make everything removable.
If there is regular hanging--of some coat, blazer, etc-and it is problematic, in the ways I can envision, I'd try old sailor's/rock climber's tricks. Use a loop of your preferred cord...
This could be bright neon yellow, or in the rock climbing community, now there are earthier colors which might match the tones of the seat...
Make a modified "girth hitch" to hang a loop which can lay over the front of the headrest, or over the back of the seat, depending on whether you have a passenger. (Google will give you a diagram of the general design. -It can be accomplished a number of different ways across a two-post layout.)
That is what I ended up doing. Was hoping for a more clean\built in look and feel
And--as I noted, you could probably find a brown or black piece of tubular webbing at REI, or some similar place. --It may be overkill, as far as strength... (you could use that cord to tie to your trailer ball, and pull small cars with it...)
But the reference I made to a "girth hitch" is normally designed for a single post. You can do the same thing--to have it neatly-centered in the front or back (depending on the circumstances)--with a simple change-up...
1. Take the loop, and place it over the entire headrest.
2. Whether you want the loop in the seat, or behind the seat, just pull the opposite side of the cord between the two posts of the headrest. Your loop will now be centered there.
3. Shorten the entire loop, accordingly, for your purposes, if needed. For starters, however, the loop should just be long enough to fit around the headrest...
