Left Wheel Bearing Replacement and ABS Sensor Quote
Hi all,
I have a 2007 Volvo XC90 and noticed a clanking/rattling noise while driving and my ABSsensor going on and off. I took it into a shop and they said it was the left wheel bearing that needed to be replaced and it also damaged the ABS speed sensor which is why the light is on.
They quoted me $1,000+ to repair. Does this sound like an accurate amount for the repairs?
Thanks

did they itemize the quote? The wheel hub itself is not that expensive ($100) nor is the sensor ($50 as a guess). If you assume 3 hours labor at $150 per hour (to cover tax, environmentals etc), that puts you at $600. Add another $100 for an alignment and you are still less than $1,000. Did you call around or talk to a dealer (assume the dealer will do it right but will be the highest quote for parts/labor rate)? Most shops quote a book rate for the job so you shouldn't hear one shop's labor hour estimate vary from another's.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot that I had a wheel bearing replaced in the spring (they fixed other stuff too from hitting a large pothole so it slipped my mind) so I took a look at my quote for reference. I called and took it to that shop and got it replaced for $500 there and am picking up today. Phew!
